Graduation Collection HKU '04
Futurism.
This collection is based on sculpture, paintings and the spirit of the Futurist movement in the 1910's. I have always been intrigued by registering movement, progress, the speed of an altering society. The Futurists had an unknown admiration for their evolving society. Their work is a chaotically organised reproduction of reality fueled with emotion.
For this collection, I focused on perspective, positioning, unexpected elements and twisting patterns. The garments are spatial without losing focus on the body. As part of my research, I unpicked the lapel from a men's jacket and draped this on a half size doll.
The collection is based on these drapings and men's suits were an inspiration for the choice of fabrics.
